You may have recently received a subject access request from an employee or a customer of yours. There legal requirements and deadlines in place that you are required to follow. A data breach is a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, personal data. A example of a data breach can be if an email is sent to the wrong recipient. In some cases a breach should be reported to the ICO within 72 hours of it occurring. You should first seek advice in the matter as not ever breach is reportable which is in line with ICO guidelines.
